T.G.I. Friday! Let’s start today with another book by Hideki Wada.

It is called Super Memory Techniques Taught by the God of Examination. (That is a very exaggerating title and it did catch my attention.)

In this book he covers many memorisation techniques.

The basic mechanism of how brain stores information is:

(Input —> Maintain —> Recall) x Repeat

By repeating this process, we can push information from short-term memory to mid-term memory and to long-term memory.

He also introduces other tips to enhance memory.

My favourites are:

1. Use visual aids
-> Hideki says brain pick up visual information very quick.
It's a lot more effective to memorise information with visual aids.

2. Associate desired information with more other related information
-> To my surprise, I thought simplifying information input will ease brain’s workload to increase memory but it is not always true.

Take remembering a person’s name and faces as an example, Hideki suggests to also memorise that person’s place of birth, clothing and hobbies. The more information input, the more synapses brain fires, and the more the memory is enhanced.

3. Sleep
-> Definitely my favourite one. It is so easy and enjoyable to do. Get more sleep to release stress and to help brain to process the received information.

How do you like today’s book introduction?

I hope you enjoy your Friday! Happy weekend!
