Injury - Abrasion - What to do in Japan?
I had a bike crash and scratched my left elbow and left knees last Saturday.
The wounds are not terrible but I need to take care of them.
Last time I had a crouch it was over a year ago. At the time, I just left it to heal by itself like what an averagely careless adult would do. The wound did heal pretty quickly in about a week time but the scar left me with itchy feelings ever since.
This time I decided to visit a doctor but I wasn’t sure what kind of doctor I should visit in Japan. I did a quick research on the Internet and found dermatology in Japanese is 形成外科 ( けいせいげか whic is pronounced as "keiseigeka"). Copy and paste it on Google if you need to find a dermatologist in your area. By the way, 形成外科 for some reason is well known as plastic surgery in Japan. When I said I was scheduling a 形成外科 appointment, my wife thought I was going to have a nose job done or something.
Luckily, there is one dermatologist near where I live. I scheduled an appointment two days after the injury. The doctor had subscribed me with a treatment (which is called fradiomycin sulfate) that is nets coated with medicines for me to put on my wounds. You would need a subscription to purchase this medicine in Japan. It’s working very well and I do hope it doesn’t leave any itchy feeling afterwards this time.
